Continuing Education Credit Information

In order to receive Continuing Education Credits through Safe Sedation Training, you must read the following:

Target Audiences: This activity has been designed to meet the needs of physicians and other healthcare professionals who care for and who may be involved in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients.

Objective: Safe Sedation Training (SST) will provide structured, pragmatic knowledgebase and techniques for:

  • identifying a high-risk patient
  • differentiating deep sedation from moderate sedation
  • assessing the patient for responsiveness, airway adequacy, ventilation, oxygenation and circulation
  • monitoring effectively
  • rescuing a patient from deeper-then-intended sedation
  • titrating sedatives and analgesics based on pharmacologic characteristics
  • understanding concepts of administering propofol with Computer-Assisted Personalized Sedation (CAPS) systems

Estimated Completion Time: 4 hours

Method of Participation: To receive a statement of credit, the learner must:

  • Check the "I want CME" option when purchasing a license to SST
  • Pay the $35 fee (see below)
  • View the SST course in its entirety
  • Successfully have an overall SST score greater than 85%
  • Complete a brief course evaluation and submit contact information. A request to the University of Utah CME office is submitted via the user's dashboard.
  • The CME office will review the submission and send the CME certificate to the e-mail used to log into the CME course.

Fee: To receive an electronic CME certificate, $35 will be charged.

CME Certificate: Once the SST is satisfactorily completed, the learner will be able to receive an electronic CME certificate (see Method of Participation Above).

Accreditation: The University of Utah School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

AMA Credit: The University of Utah School of Medicine designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 4.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) ™.Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing CNE Information

SST is eligible for 4 Nursing CE (CNE) credits. The cost for the CNE certificate of credits for SST is $35. The certificate is sent electronically upon completion of the SST course. This continuing nursing education was approved by the Western Multi-State Division, an accredited approved by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Utah Nurses Associations are members of the Western Multi-State Division.

Dental CE Information

SST is eligible for 4 Dental CE credits, and SSTsim is eligible for 6 Dental CE credits. The cost for the Dental CE certificate of credits for SST is $35. The certificate is sent electronically upon completion of the SST course.

Applied Medical Visualizations (Medvis) is designated as an Approved PACE Program Provider by the Academy of General Dentistry. The formal continuing education programs of this program provider are accepted by AGD for Fellowship, Mastership and membership maintenance credit. How to Receive Credit

If you would like to receive either Medical, Nursing, or Dental CE Credits:

  • - When you sign up for Safe Sedation Training, indicate which credit you would like to receive
  • - Pay the $35 fee
  • - View the SST course in its entirety
  • - Successfully have an overall score greater than 85%
  • - Complete a brief course evaluation and submit contact information.

Once CE credit has been requested from your SST account, a PDF certificate will be e-mailed to you from the CE provider.
