Micah Baker & Diane Tyler
Micah Baker is a critical care RN who has been working in professional development, education, and simulation. for the past several years. As a medical intensive care nurse, she practiced moderate sedation for extremely ill patients undergoing endoscopy, bronchoscopy and other lifesaving procedures. She taught the moderate sedation class for hospital staff for over ten years. She has published critical care nursing textbook chapters and education research articles in national and international publications. Working for University of Utah Health's nursing professional development department, she was asked to standardize moderate sedation training for all staff in the many inpatient, outpatient, emergency, urgent and procedural areas that perform moderate sedation in the large trauma one academic medical center. She currently teaches moderate sedation in the Center for Patient Simulation, University of Utah, Department of Anesthesia. Diane graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She went on to get her master's degree in nursing administration from the University of Utah. Ms. Tyler has many years of experience in sedation practice and education. Diane's clinical experience as a post-operative care nurse and more than 20 years of experience leading high-fidelity patient simulation sessions at the University of Utah allowed her to take the position of SST education aspiration director.
